To clarify why a manufactured assembly is unable to be added to a purchase order, when the manufactured assembly has been processed as "individual children", I'd request that the tooltip state something like, "This assembly was processed as individual children, it cannot be purchased directly when its children are being procured separately" to help dummies like me remember that rule
