This would involve entering in estimated time for every internal work process.

[X ] amount of machinists x [Y] amount of time per week allocated to each = [Z] amount of hours estimated in machining a week.

We have 3 machinists x 33 hours a week (to factor in things taking longer than expected or sudden revisions, they work 40 hours) = ~100 hours per week of machining time.

If I run a report that spits out 90 hours of estimated time for internal processes, I will need to try to get more work out of engineering / quote new build to prints, etc.

If I run this report and it spits out 600 hours of estimated time for internal processes, I will not try to add on new work that needs a quick turnaround.

I understand the difficulty with incorporating this with significantly larger machining companies. Some places have set up people and machinists and inspectors, whereas we just have 3 machinists who set up, machine, and inspect every part. Also, some floating machinists who could do simple parts. I understand the difficulty. Even a general report that says the total amount of estimated time within internal processes of incomplete issued work orders to get us that grand number to estimate the number of days/weeks/months we are scheduled out.

Aaron, thanks for the feedback on this. When our team circles around to reviewing capacity planning, we'll be sure to review this and will possibly reach out to you for more context/to throw some ideas by you!
